Islam is a universal religion and that is why our Prophet (P.B.U.H) was called a Mercy for all mankind.
Furthermore "When the believers are addressed in the Quran, it always says, "Those who believe and do good deeds."
In simple words, a Muslim has dual functions, one toward God and the other toward fellow human beings.
Then why is the indispensable part of Religion, missing in Muslims, and is becoming prevalent in the West? Human dignity and respect is at the heart of Islam, indeed it was the first religion to give the right of divorce to women and to ensure that daughters inherited along with the sons, The west came later in giving property rights to women and in recognizing divorce-Now we lag behind- Poor literacy rates breed ignorance and with ignorance comes fear and superstition, because we are forgetting our own identity, and have made a circle of our own irrespective of the fact, its against your own culture, traditions, or religion.
In Pakistan and Afghanistan and other parts of the Muslim world, men still kill women in the name of male pride. The Taliban in Afghanistan do a great disservice to women and Islam when they ban women from working, their ban has nothing to do with Islam, but they picture everything which they abandon, or abolish is in the light of Islam.
The women of Afghanistan, and women in other parts of the Muslim world expect moral support from the rest of the world community in their struggle to work and to free choice. Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H) set the example by marrying a working woman. His wife was a successful businesswoman. The Taliban are wrong when they drape women from head to foot forcing them to wear the purdah. Those who force women into purdah forget that the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said "that the best is the veil in the eyes".
Where is all this being practiced then?
Women in Islam are considered inferior to men, they themselves have forgotten that Islam teaches equality.Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) believed that "men and women are as equal as the teeth in a comb".... Why then West is becoming prevalent in all such values, and we are apart??
In Pakistan we have selective Islam, just believing in God and going through the rituals is not enough. One also has to be a good human being. There are certain Western countries with far more Islamic traits than us in Pakistan, especially in the way they protect the rights of their citizens, or for that matter their justice system. In fact some of the finest individuals we know live there.
One of the problems facing Pakistan is the polarization of two reactionary groups. On the one side is the Westernized group that looks upon Islam through Western eyes and has inadequate knowledge about the subject. It reacts strongly to anyone trying to impose Islam in society and wants only a selective part of the religion. On the other extreme is the group that reacts to this Westernized elite and in trying to become a defender of the faith, takes up such intolerant and self-righteous attitudes that are hideous to the spirit of Islam.
If Pakistan’s Westernized class starts to study Islam, not only will it be able to help society fight extremism, but it will also make them realize what a progressive religion Islam is. They will also be able to help the Western world by articulating Islamic concepts. Recently, Prince Charles accepted that the Western world can learn from Islam. But how can this happen if the group that is in the best position to project Islam gets its attitudes from the West and considers Islam backward?

The aggressive nature of modern Islam is an expression of it’s essence , not a current anomaly. Mohammed killed those who disagreed with him, lived through robbing caravans, pillaged peaceful and more productive communities in Medina , and established an army of conquest. Modern blood feuds between Sunni and Sheia descend directly from fractional disputes over control of the spoils after his death. The Koran is replete with exhortations to violence; the entire history of Islam is of a piece- violence intertwined with a monotheism confusedly borrowed from Judeo-Christianity by an illiterate , and , given his visions of angles, I will argue here, unstable personality; for reasons explored below these origins have effected the entire history of Islam.
ReplyDeleteit is true that muslims are forgetting thier basic islamic valus but i think the reason behind is because we dont learn quran and teaching of Hadiha.A lot of people i have seen even they dont know how they should offer basic ibadah.Quran is the gudiance for human beings if the people will not be aware of quran teachings they would not be able to correct themselves.
ReplyDeleteWe must try to follow Islam because its the right path and the right religion.
ReplyDeleteThe word "Islam" itself means "Submission to Allah".
ReplyDeletewhat we are today is also dependent on our upbringing. Our intentions and the company we hang out in is also very important in defining who we are and that makes ur focus on our core islamic beliefs.
ReplyDeleteIslam is also a social, economic, and political way of life. Every single aspect of human existence is governed by the law of Islam. A Muslim is commanded to respect his elders and to show humility and respect to his parents. He is also commanded to show kindness and mercy to those who are younger or weaker than himself.
ReplyDeleteAs blog shows the infomative n current issues of Pakistan which is informative for the young youth...
ReplyDeleteMuslims have forgotten their roots, and now they are adapting to western cultures and values. We need to stop and rethink on our attitude towards our religion.
ReplyDeletewhat our muslims do is pick things they think are right. if its written in the quran woman shud not work unless they are negelcting thier family. ppl wud just choose do not work even if the woman is no negelecting her family at all. its all about how you perceive things. unfortunately muslims do not tend to understand islam completely i blame it on neligence and lack of literacy.
ReplyDeleteWell from a personal point of view...ive seen people who leave islamic countries are more inclined towards islam when they go abroad...this is one major change that you see in people
